So much of our life’s enjoyment simply comes down to our perception. What happens is that there is an event, something happens and we create meaning to it, we call this creating and playing stories. So in the end, it all comes down to the stories that you have.
We are constantly being told that we need goals, and that if we don’t strive for something then we will never be truly happy. Often we set ourselves a goal in life because we believe that if we can achieve this goal it will make everything ok.
An interesting thing about intuition is that women hear their intuition more than men but men act upon their intuition more.
When are you most receptive to your intuition? Can you hear your intuition if there is too much background noise? If your mind is full with all the things you are trying to do. So often we drive ourselves in a certain direction not taking notice of what is happening. We are so focused on a predetermined outcome that we can’t seem to see there are many paths to that same point.
What is a craving any way? It is a desire, an intense wanting for something.
Where does this craving come from?
Some would say that it is a release of a neurotransmitter dopamine in the brain – but what does that mean and so what.
Others would say that the craving comes from pictures in our mind. You see yourself having a coffee or chocolate and then you create a motor program of that possibility in your mind and then you act it out.
Imagine if someone had the power (lets say a hypnotist) to tell you something and it happened, you began to feel a certain way. For example, “if your business fails, you will fall into a deep depression.”
If somebody ever in a position of power were to say that to someone I would find it not only offensive but very dangerous. I can’t imagine anyone doing it, but people do it all day, they do it to themselves.
A client was telling me how she was in a great space but was unsure of how things would turn out because in the near future she was facing many challenges.
How you perceive what will happen to you in the future will alter your current state. One thought can take you out of feeling great and into worry or despair.
We feel well when we are congruent. Being aligned means having all our feelings, actions, thoughts and beliefs line up and all point in the same direction.
We feel unwell whenever there is a paradox, or whenever we are being pulled in two opposite directions, we lose our congruence.
I find it amusing when people talk about ‘coping’ with stress. Simply because I don’t believe that it is an effective or helpful mindset to have.
I dislike this concept because it says lets try and help you deal with stress better. When we all know that stress is not the cause, but the effect.
We are all aware that stress increases the probability of many diseases and causes a lot of dysfunction and mental discomfort. Even more reason why coping with stress is not a good approach.
